Vinyl Chloride / Vinyl Acetate Copolymer
Description
BD solution vinyl resin is a high molecular weight copolymer comprised of vinyl chloride and vinyl acetate. It is supplied as a powder.
Applications
Applications for BD solution vinyl resin include inks and overlacquers for vinyl substrates, strippable coatings, and a wide variety of clear and pigmented coatings for metal, wood, paper, film, foil, and fabric. Blends of BD solution vinyl resin and BDCH solution vinyl resin are used in air-dry industrial maintenance and marine coatings that can be recoated, even in cold weather.
Advantages
Good balance of chemical resistance, solubility, film strength, and thermoplasticity Adhesion to PVC
Low adhesion to metals for strippable applications
High film strength
Miscible with functionalized solution vinyls
Cited in FDA regulations for use in food-contact applications
